Check your device’s compliance status
Device Verification System is a free verification tool developed by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority - PTA, a government entity responsible for regulating and maintaining the country’s telecommunications system. By scanning or typing your device’s IMEI, the app checks whether your unit is blocked, compliant, or non-compliant.
IMEI verification via PTA’s database
As mentioned, Device Verification System has three compliance statuses. If compliant, your unit is registered and approved by the PTA. If non-compliant, it may be due to a duplicate IMEI or your device may not have been allocated with GSMA. However, mobile services remain accessible on non-compliant devices.
For blocked devices, you’ll need to settle your FBR (Federal Board of Revenue) tax or drop by your mobile provider’s franchise for device registration. It may also be due to stolen, untaxed, or smuggled IMEI. Unfortunately, there are instances of server issues or the app not working as intended.

Despite the technical hiccups, the Device Verification System app does an excellent job of keeping stolen or smuggled phones at bay, as it cross-checks your device’s IMEI with PTA’s database to ensure it’s registered under said government entity.
